You can join a hiking excursion in the morning, and later a boat along Chagres river and Panama canal to explore the tropical forest, its flora and fauna. You will walk 9.5 km (aproximately 5 hours). The mostly flat trail takes you through magnificent rainforests teeming with exotic wildlife and historic landmarks. You will reach the ruins of the town of Venta de Cruces, by the Chagres River, where you will board a comfortable expedition boat. After enjoying a picnic lunch on a small island, you depart on an adventure that will include a voyage across Gatun Lake in the Panama Canal, where you pass gigantic cargo ships in sharp contrast with the natural surroundings. You should be prepared for irregular, muddy and slippery ground. Shoes for hiking are recommended, even better if they can soak, since small rivers will be found along the trail.
