Day 1: Arrival to Havana

A member of our staff will meet you upon arrival in Havana before getting you to the hotel. Welcome to Cuba! The largest island in the Caribbean, the beloved abode of Hemingway. You will soon discover that Cuba is all that and much, much more, but first settle down, relax and enjoy your first night in Havana. Memories Miramar accommodation (BB)

Day 2: Biking city tour

This morning we will begin to getting used to our bicycles before leaving on a panoramic tour of Havana. We will visit the well-known district of Miramar, headquarters of the foreign diplomats of the city and some of the most striking of the twentieth century architecture of Havana. Stay tuned for the vast and strange Russian embassy. We will continue through the Metropolitan Park of Havana and Nuevo Vedado, where we meet the middle class of Havana, before stopping at Plaza de la Revolución. From here, we drive through the young and vibrant Vedado to the famous Hotel Nacional that has offered refuge to many celebrities over the years, including Winston Churchill. Then we will go through the bustling Havana Center to the famous Capitol building, a mirror image of the White House in Washington. With the Capitol behind us, we turn to the left for the Prado royal walk. At the end of Prado, we will turn right and pass the old train station of Havana (now a covered market), the ruins of the old walls before finishing the cycling part of our tour in the Plaza de Armas. We´ll continue by walking, discovering the four beautifully renovated colonial squares of Old Havana and stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will return to our hotel through the romantic Malecon de La Habana, a wall surrounding the entire coast of the city. Enjoy this afternoon at leisure. Day 3: Las Terrazas biking tour

Today we say goodbye to the hustle and bustle of Havana and head west to the Pinar Del Rio quieter stages. Once we are outside the city limits, we will ride and travel 40 km through a magnificent tropical landscape on our way to "Las Terrazas" Biosphere Reserve. Upon arrival, we will have lunch and then explore the fascinating eco-resort that hosts the memory of one of the most beloved musicians in Cuba, Polo Montañez. Enjoy the famous zip line of Las Terrazas and take a refreshing dip in the San Juan River. Las Terrazas is a lovely place, but do not fall in love too much, as the only way to join this eco-community is through marriage! Enjoy the evening in this beautiful Biosphere Reserve. Day 4: San Diego de los Baños

After breakfast, we set off with transfer from Moka to Soroa then down the hill and into the valley. We spend most of the day cycling along the plain and through colonial farm towns dotted along the old Havana – Pinar del Rio Road. We continue to cycle to the Spa town of San Diego de los Baños. Once famous for its medicinal waters the town is now a sleepy backwater of pretty squares and colonial buildings. Time for late lunch then transfer to Pinar del Rio for dinner and overnight. Day 5: Pinar del Río - Viñales

Pinar del Río - San Juan and Martínez - Viñales (55km) A day exploring the best tobacco country in the world. Depart from Pinar del Rio towards San Luis, then turn towards San Juan and visit the world famous tobacco “vega” of Alejandro Robaina – the only tobacco grower whose name appears on cigar boxes. The legendary harvests of Robaina gave him the reputation of being one of the best tobacco producers in Cuba, often called "the godfather of Cuban tobacco". In 1997 Habanos, the state tobacco company honored Robaina by naming a new line of cigars after her farm. After visiting Vegas Robaina we go along rural roads to La Guabina, a cattle ranch by the lake with its own small hotel and restaurant. Enjoy a typical Cuban food in the traditional ranch of La Guabina. After lunch, we return to Pinar del Río by bike or bus before moving to Viñales, a rural valley that many consider the most beautiful in Cuba. Tonight we will stay in local private houses, where your hosts will prepare a delicious homemade dinner. Despite being a quiet rural retreat, Viñales has several places with live music, so if you are wondering what to do at night, you'll find a place to move your feet. Day 6: Viñales - Cayo Jutías - Viñales

Today we move from Viñales to Cayo Jutías (via Pons), a white sand beach 3 km long with idyllic turquoise water. Lie down in the sand, enjoy the shallow waters or discover the underwater life of the cay in a snorkeling or diving trip (not included and subject to availability). We will have lunch on the beach and enjoy the delights of Cayo Jutías before returning to Viñales at night. Distance: 56 km. Altitude: +530 / -669. Private house, Viñales

Day 7: Departure to Santa Clara

Leaving Viñales town in the morning we have a long travel day today as we head eastwards to Central Cuba. Today’s journey could take 6 hours in total. We’ll have a packed lunch and make some stops along the way, with our guide keeping us entertained with Cuba themed videos and a question session! Arrival in the historic city of Santa Clara where we’ll check in to our hotel for the night. La Granjita or Los Caneyes Hotel (HB)

Day 8: Trinidad via Topes de Collantes

This morning we will visit the Che Mausoleum, a giant monument and the official resting place of Che since his remains were bring into Cuba from Bolivia back in 1997. On a hill overlooking Santa Clara, this impressive mausoleum embodies the Cuban Revolution and its legacy. From Santa Clara we go to the beautiful Topes de Collantes, a natural park in the mountains dotted with magical waterfalls and cold pools. You may want to stop for a dip while we walk (approximately 2 hours) on the "La Codina" trail. After a traditional lunch at Codina ranch, we head towards the charming city of Trinidad, a world heritage site and the jewel of the Cuban heritage crown. Tonight we will stay in "private houses". The accommodation is simple but the rooms are clean, with air conditioning and private bathroom. Enjoy a delicious homemade meal at Alberto's House before heading out to explore the vibrant nightlife of Trinidad. Private house, Trinidad (FB)

Day 9: Trinidad & Playa Ancon

This morning we’ll have a short and easy ride to the nearby beach at Playa Ancon. After time for a dip in the sea, we’ll return back via a different route to Trinidad for midday. This afternoon at leisure in beautiful Trinidad. Have a stroll around the cobbled streets, visit some of the town’s many museums and breathe in the special ambiance of this perfectly preserved colonial market town. Ask your guide for tips and advice, or for help booking any activities. Distance: 26km. Altitude: +130 / -130. Private house, Trinidad (D)

Day 10: Cienfuegos Botanical Garden tour

Today we set off from Trinidad to cycle to the botanical gardens near Cienfuegos, only 66 km away, we will stop to visit this precinct placed right on the suburbs of Cienfuegos. Home to more than 2000 species of different plants, the garden collection of more than 400 types of orchids is particularly enchanting. After lunch in the botanical gardens, transfer to Cienfuegos, the "Pearl of the South" of Cuba. Cienfuegos, home of Cuban star Bolero Benny More, is famous for its elegant French architecture and its mini boardwalk, a boardwalk that runs through the bay of the city. After a quick orientation tour of this world heritage city, we check into our accommodation for the night. Tonight you can eat at your casa or go to the city to dine in one of the many paladares and private restaurants of Cienfuegos (Dinner not included). Distance: 66 km. Altitude: +455 / -438. Day 11: Bahía de Cochinos (Pigs´bay)

Saying goodbye to Cienfuegos, we moved inland to the small town of Navarra where today's walk begins. Today we will cover a true mix of landscapes as we tour the Zapata Peninsula, a large marshy area of the most important bird species in Cuba and world-renowned as a Unesco Biosphere Reserve. We will stop for a break at Playa Girón, one of the beaches where the enemy forces landed during the failed invasion by the CIA, in 1961. After a bit of history, we will return to our bicycles for a short ride to our stop. Lunch in Caleta Buena. Enjoy your midday meal overlooking the natural pool of the sea of Caleta Buena, full of striking tropical fish. After lunch, we will move to Playa Larga, a beautiful beach that also hosted hostile forces in 1961. Tonight we will be enjoying the local hospitality in private houses. Distance: 71 km. Day 12: Matanzas province ride

This morning we will start with a transfer to Jagüey Grande, a small town north of the national highway. This is where we saddled and started today's walk through the citrus groves and the small town of Pedro Betancourt (named for a revolutionary general in Cuba's war for independence) until our lunch stop at Finca Coincidencia. Finca Coincidencia is an eccentric farm located in the heart of the province of Matanzas, where you can taste the products of the farm served in ceramic dishes made by the farmer himself. After lunch and a walk through this fascinating farm, we moved to the capital of the province, Matanzas. "The City of the Bridges", the streets of Matanzas are spread across three different rivers and that´s why has been called “Venice of Cuba”. It´s been also called the Athens of Cuba because of the many prominent writers and poets it has produced. Matanzas is also the birthplace of two Cuban dances, the Rumba and the Danzón, as well as several religions of African origin, which makes it an important contributor to Afro-Cuban culture. Although most tourists pass through Matanzas on their way to Varadero, this small town has much to offer. Distance: 57 km. Altitude: +184 / -122. Noche Velasco Hotel. (HB)

Day 13: On a bike to Playa Jibacoa

This morning we will go directly to our bikes after breakfast and leave Matanzas. Although we can find some traffic on the first leg of our trip, it gets much quieter once we enter the small town of Ceiba Mocha. From here we ascend through the Valley of Sting with magnificent views, we could stop in one of the small towns along the way to take a sandwich of fresh tropical fruits. Our tour ends at the beautiful beach of Jibacoa where we stop for a grilled lunch, drinks included and of course a swim in the sea! After a relaxing afternoon on the beach, we will move back to Havana to spend the night. Distance: 62 km. Altitude: +537 / -533. Private House, Havana (HB)

Day 14: Free day in Havana

Free day in Havana to explore by walking its colonial charms and its streets full of excitement. Take a chance on walking down the Malecon and Vedado district. Private House, Havana (BB)

Day 15: Departure day

Let´s have a sightseeing morning in Old Havana, walking through its historic center. In the afternoon, we will drive you to the airport for you to take the flight back home.

This curated experience has been designed to depart on specific days of  2018 and 2019 so before any planning consults with your travel agent about the available dates on the month you´re traveling to our country. Anyway, the experience will always promise 15 days fun-filled and lots of places to discover.

On the first day, you´ll get the energy back after the travel before departing on the second day into an exciting biking tour through the capital. The third day rush you to pick a transfer to Las Terrazas to do a biking tour all over this Biosphere Reserve. On the next two days will be visiting Soroa, San Diego de Los Baños and finally Viñales valley including a visit to Cayo Jutias on the sixth day. After 6 hours travel on the seventh day we arrive in Santa Clara to visit the historical center. Day 8 is all about "Topes de Collantes" natural park before arriving in Trinidad and making a biking tour to discover the architectural secrets of this ancient city. On a ninth day, we´ll go to Playa Ancon and next morning straight into Cienfuegos to visit, among other places, the Botanical Garden of Cienfuegos. Bahia de Cochinos, Matanzas and Playa Jibacoa will be the places we´ll be visiting before returning to Havana on day 13 and a later departure on day 15.
